When our ancestors call to us, how do we respond? This is a question at the core of artist Epiphany Couch’s Seattle Art Fair installation Strong Spirits. Join us for a talk with the artist to learn more about her process and the joys and challenges of making work in collaboration with ancestors. Couch’s installation, presented by Dreaming in Public with Nato Thompson, is a dedication to her grandmother and great-grandfather and a tribute to the enduring legacy of generational knowledge. Through family photographs, delicate beadwork, and sculptural objects, Couch honors the complexities of heritage, identity, and family relationships.
