Presented by Corning Museum of Glass

Date & Time:

Saturday, July 19, 2025
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Location:

PURE Insurance Theater at Seattle Art Fair

Tami Landis, Curator of Postwar and Contemporary Glass from the Corning Museum of Glass will be moderating a panel conversation with Seattle based artist Kelsey Fernkopf and curator/artist Tommy Gregory to discuss neon as an artform in the Seattle region. This panel coincides with a “pop-up” installation of an immersive neon project, Constellation 3, by Fernkopf within the Seattle Art Fair. Fernkopf is master neon glass bender, craftsperson and educator with 40 years of experience making neon tubes. His practice is compelling as it transforms the luminous medium into a abstract, free-standing designs, often sited outside and interacting with the landscape. Constellation 3 will include a range of colors and shapes that will overlap and intersect in space, culminating in an immersive display. Tommy Gregory is an artist and senior art manager/curator for the Port of Seattle who is cultivating a robust visuals arts program demonstrating the dynamic work of regional and international artists.

Fernkopf was invited into this project as his work was featured in the recent publication by New Glass Review 44. New Glass Review is an annual CMoG exhibition-in-print that documents the innovation and dexterity of artists, designers, and architects around the world working with the material of glass. Just as the publication is not comprehensive of the field, this too is just a glimpse into the vast network of artists working in glass in the Pacific Northwest. Learn more at https://info.cmog.org/publications/new-glass-review
