KCS Art, LLC is pleased to present Melissa Broersma: Le Grand Slam, the artist’s first solo exhibition in Seattle, opening Wednesday, July 17th from 6–9pm at Efeste Sodo. The exhibition features a bold new series of tennis paintings that celebrate the visual spectacle, culture, and humor of the sport—delivered with Broersma’s love of the game and her signature bold style.

Hailing from Bellingham, WA, Broersma has built a following for her expressive, often visionary approach to figurative painting. Her work has been featured in the Seattle Art Fair for the past two years, drawing attention for its vibrant color, athletic forms, and sharp sense of play. Le Grand Slam marks both her first body of work dedicated exclusively to tennis and her debut solo exhibition in Seattle.

The show explores themes of performance, femininity, competition, and camp through the lens of one of the world’s most iconic sports. Broersma’s canvases evoke both the elegance and absurdity of athletic rituals—unapologetically glamorous, explosively physical, and always laced with sly wit.

The exhibition will remain on view through September 21, 2025, during regular winery hours and by appointment. Admission is free and open to the public.

About the Artist

Melissa Broersma is a contemporary painter based in Bellingham, Washington. Her work draws on a variety of themes that reflect her lived experience, often blending personal symbolism with universal narratives. Her large-scale works recall the escapist impulse of 19th-century Symbolist painters, rendered in bold color and gestural form. A two-time participant in the Seattle Art Fair, Broersma’s paintings continue to gain recognition for their dynamic perspectives and boundary- pushing style. Le Grand Slam is her first solo show in Seattle.
