Rhythms of Ink is a captivating live painting performance by KyoungMug Park, an artist renowned for his Korean fusion style. KyoungMug has developed extraordinary techniques that showcase his resilience, mastery, and innovation in contemporary live painting. This performance blends the precision of Korean calligraphy, abstract expressionism, and movement, creating an immersive experience that transcends visual art and performance.
Inspired by The Sky, The Wind, The Stars, and Poetry (1948), the performance echoes the quiet strength and lyrical resistance found in the poetry of Dong-Ju Yun. As ink flows across the canvas, it mirrors Yun’s tender defiance—his ability to capture invisible forces like longing, time, and spirit.
The 10-minute performance will be accompanied by bilingual poetry narration in Korean and English, adding a rich storytelling dimension that invites the audience into a meditative, poetic space where visual art and literature breathe together.

Artist Bio
KyoungMug Park is a contemporary fine artist based in Seoul, South Korea, celebrated for his thought-provoking and elegant traditional Korean ink paintings on hanji. His works meditate on form, time, space, inner emotions, and the symbolic vocabulary of the universe.
He received his BA in Painting from Dong-A University and his MA in East Asian Painting from Hongik University. KyoungMug has exhibited extensively across South Korea — including Busan, Gwangju, Icheon, Seongnam, Seoul, and Suwon — as well as internationally in Germany, London, and New York. This will be his debut performance and exhibition in Seattle.
Though he primarily works with Korean ink and hanji, he often incorporates contemporary materials like acrylic and canvas, creating a dialogue between tradition and modernity. His improvisational yet intentional brushwork reflects inner emotional rhythms, inviting viewers to slow down and engage deeply with each layered composition.
KyoungMug hopes to leave a lasting impression through his art — not only on canvas but also in the hearts of those who witness his live creation process.
