Casey Curran

Presented by Roq La Rue

Casey Curran is a Seattle based artist who works primarily in kinetic sculpture. While his work explores the birth, growth and degradation of organic forms – his work differs from the usually envisioned concept of bio-mechanical due to its use of delicate and ethereal forms in shades of white, using cut mylar and bronze colored metal to mimic the delicate wispiness of wings or sea creature undulations. For the opening night of the Seattle Art Fair, we will be presenting three pieces of Casey Currans wearable pieces on models that will stroll the fair as well as pose at the Roq La Rue booth.

Casey received his BFA in painting and sculpture from Cornish College of the Arts in 2006. He has completed several large-scale public works in partnership with Skanska Architects, MadArt, Facebook, Oculus Rift, and Security Properties. In 2010 and 2013, Curran was awarded the NY Sculpture Space residency twice, and has received multiple awards in artistic merit since.

He has collaborated closely with art performers Saint Genet and innovative fashion designer Iris Van Herpin resulting in worldwide exhibitions.

You can see more of his work at Roq La Rue until August 2nd in the Hi-Fructose Invitational, and an ambitious massive scale sculpture at the new Cannonball Arts in Seattle.
